Embrace Performance, to be announced on Earth Day
GDT’s new upcoming theatre /dance project EMBRACE uses the Arts to send the message of saving trees. Embrace is an innovative type of storytelling project that incorporates theatre, movement, world music, and traditional shadow puppets from India. Shadow puppets have been used through the ages worldwide to bring theatre, stories, and messages to the community. This project integrates shadow puppets with actors and dancers.
GDT uses a heroic story from India to further awareness of climate change, the green effect, and how it connects to humanity using the profound words of, Chief Seattle, a deeply grounded environmentalist and Native American, who understood that the future depends upon respecting nature and all life: “Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect."
World Cafe & Drum Jam
Another project is “World Café” as intimate events at GDT- that invite artists –poets, visual artists, storytellers, musicians, skits, readings who will have the opportunity to use their own language to share the richness from other cultures.
The success of the various Heritage Festivals certainly indicate interest and further development in this area.
