Don Tate: Acclaimed Children's Book Author and Illustrator
Don Tate is an award-winning author/illustrator of children's books and a long-time friend of GDT. His vision of inclusivity of diverse cultures in literature resonates very closely with our mission.
GDT was immensely proud to host Don for a Family workshop. He spoke about his work and presented a POV from an illustrator/author's perspective. He also read from a selection of his bestsellers followed by a book signing.
Beaverdale Books were on-site with a selection of Tate's books available for sale. We also had an ASL interpreter onsite
The event was held on September 15, 2022, at the Des Moines Civic Center Lobby.
Don Tate - Future Authors at Cattell Elementary School
On September 16, the 4th and 5th graders (over 100 kids) of Cattell Elementary School got the opportunity to meet Don Tate as part of their "Poetry, Poets, and Becoming Writers". GDT with the help of their Patrons, was able to gift one book to each child attending the event.
