Service Description
Bhangra is a traditional Indian folk dance that originated in Punjab. It was commonly performed to celebrate a good harvest, specifically during the Vaisakhi Festival. It is a lively dance that follows the rhythm of the dhol, a loud double barrel drum that fills the dancers with energy. Bhangra is a unique style of dance that demonstrates both in the ground weighting, similar to hip hop, and upwards weighting, similar to ballet. Take this class if you want to have a fun workout! Nik Thota- Bhangra InstructorNik graduated from Iowa State University last May, where he was a part of several dance clubs, including ISU Bhangra, The Forum Dance Studio, The Forum Dance Crew, DubH Hip Hop Club, InnovAtion Dance Team, and Orchesis II. He is currently part of the Rebel City Dance Crew in Des Moines, IA and iPush Dance Company in Kansas City, MO, and he was a past member of the Studio 3 Dance Company in Seattle, WA. Besides being a GDT instructor, he also teaches Hip hop at another studio. Nik is a software developer for John Deere Financial in Johnston, IA.
